Review for Liquid Lightning Sugar Free

CAFFEINE CONTENT

100 mg/8.4 oz. can

EASE IN ACQUISITION—N/A

In order to try to answer this a little more thoroughly, I decided to check the “Store Locator” on the website and see if I could get an idea of how widely it had been distributed.  Unfortunately, at the time of writing, all you get when you click on it is a blank page with the words “Coming Soon” on it.  So…sorry.  Nothing new to tell you.

APPEARANCE/PRESENTATION—7

I have all the same issues with this sugar free can that I do the other—I appreciate the minimalistic approach, though I think Liquid Lightning takes things a bit too far and as a result it looks drab.  In this case I’m not sure what I would have Liquid Lightning do to get past that; white doesn’t give you a whole lot to work with in that regard.  Maybe they should go back to what they were doing before they came out with this design; that one was a lot more striking (no pun intended; please don’t lynch me) on both the original and sugar free versions.

TASTE—8

I didn’t like this one quite as much as the original—though I am writing this after my first time trying it, and I typically like sugar free drinks better the second time around.  It does have that same mild citrusy traditional flavor; the only thing I’m holding against it are the distracting artificial sweeteners.

KICK (INTENSITY)—7.5

As I typically experience with sugar free energy drinks, I got more energy out of this than I did with the sugared version (not sure how that works, but there you go).  The increase in alertness was noticeable enough, but the biggest difference was the added surplus of jitters—keep that in mind if you’re into that sort of thing.

KICK (DURATION)—7.5

Three hours and 15 minutes or so, no crash.

THE DRINK OVERALL—7.67

Flavorwise I wasn’t as impressed with this one, but honestly, the difference is negligible enough that I can safely say I don’t care all that much.  It’s a good-tasting drink with good energy and zero calories.  Check it out if you’re into the traditional energy drink flavor.
