EASE
IN ACQUISITION—8
Pretty
easy to find if you’re in the habit of frequenting the bodybuilding section of
larger chains. Look for it next to
the protein shakes.
APPEARANCE/PRESENTATION—8
Six
Star Protein Energy Shot owes much of its appeal to a clean and bold
presentation—the are no sunbursts, no grungy fonts, no outlandish claims of
eight weeks of energy or anything of the sort. It’s concise and to the point, and for that earns a
consumer’s consideration.
TASTE—3
It’s
not so much the flavor that kills this shot; indeed, it’s actually better
berrywise than the multitudes of 5 Hour Energy clones that inundate the
shelves. The fatal blow is
delivered by the texture—which I
should have anticipated, given the 26 grams of hydrolyzed proteins and brief
chain amino acids. If you’ve ever
wanted to experience something along the lines of imbibing 2.5 ounces of
semi-sweet, creamy, yogurty muck…well, now you have your chance to find out.
KICK
(INTENSITY)—7
At
125 mg, this is far from the most formidable energy product I’ve ever
reviewed. All the same, I think
its modest boost is sufficient if you’re looking for a little extra help aside
from the protein.
KICK
(DURATION)—9
Four
hours, no crash—so not shabby.
THE
SHOT OVERALL—6.33
I
think if I’m needing a protein/energy boost, I’ll stick with my usual filets of
fish and a Rockstar Zero Carb (feast of champions), but if you’re into
convenience and aren’t terribly particular about the taste, this will get the
job done.
