Review for Victory Zero

-->
CAFFEINE CONTENT

160 mg?

EASE IN ACQUISITION—3

As of yet fairly uncommon.

APPEARANCE/PRESENTATION—8

I wasn’t terribly fond of the Victory motif in green or red—but I have to say that I do like it in blue.  The whole layout is still pretty basic, but the black and blue go together so nicely that this manages to offset the effect and make Victory Zero pretty presentable.

TASTE—3

In times past, I’ve enjoyed the low carb versions of certain energy drink more than their sugared counterparts.  This combined with the fact that Victory Zero looked so nice filled me with optimism in spite of my previous experiences with Victory drinks, and actually found myself expecting a positive flavor experience with when I poured out my can of Victory Zero into my Energy Glass.

My hopes were quickly dashed to bits.  Victory did a truly terrible job sweetening this drink, the result being a beverage that tastes almost entirely of artificial sweeteners.  It almost tastes like somebody emptied ten packets of Splenda into some carbonated water, squirted in a couple drops of Mio Energy as an afterthought, and decided to market that as a new energy drink.

This is, hands down, the most lazily executed beverage I have ever tasted.   There is not a single indication that the makers of this drink cared at all about what they were doing when they formulated Victory Zero, and let me tell you—I hate the taste of apathy.

KICK (INTENSITY)—8

In stark contrast to the almost spiteful indifference demonstrated in Victory Zero’s flavoring, the kick is actually pretty good.  I felt less jittery than I had when I drank the original, but the efficacy was still there—just smoother.

KICK (DURATION)—9

I actually got a good four hours out of Victory Zero before it became apparent that the effects had worn off completely.  No crash was observed.

THE DRINK OVERALL—6.67
There is absolutely no reason why you should have to drink Victory Zero.  There are drinks that supersede it in every possible category—the one that comes to my mind right now is Slap Frost Low Calorie.  It is a Red Bull clone, but tastes better than Victory Zero; it is even more effective than Victory Zero, and, to top it all of, is still only 99 cents!  Stick it to Victory and buy one of those.  You’ll be much happier with your purchase.

  1. I really like the way these taste. They're my favorite "bargain" energy drink, and I even like them more than most of the more expensive ones.
