Review for Rockstar Punched--Tropical Fruit Punch

CAFFEINE CONTENT

240 mg/16 oz. can
360 mg/24 oz. can

EASE IN ACQUISITION—10

Exceptionally common.  No difficulty in acquisition anticipated at all.

APPEARANCE/PRESENTATION—7

This one doesn’t look bad; for the most part points are taken off for not being terribly imaginative.  Black background, red star, “PUNCHED” written in font evidently meant to suggest that the drink packs a punch.

TASTE—6

The taste is pretty standard for a canned fruit punch—very sweet, with an exceptionally strong artificial fruit taste, then a little bit of a gum-inspired aftertaste.  Maybe there are those of you who like this sort of thing, but I’m not one of them.  It’s one of those things that gets pretty old pretty fast, and by the end of it (small can) I was kind of glad I had finished it.

16 OZ. CAN

KICK (INTENSITY)—10

Even if they didn’t put much thought into the flavor (and it shows), Rockstar spared no expense when making sure that the drink lives up to the “Punched” part of its name—it is really quite powerful, reminiscent of the experience that first made me fall in love with Rockstar's products.

KICK (DURATION)—10

This stuff kept me going for hours—the effects tapered off slowly, in a fashion like unto that provided by the original, though the crash was noticeable once it came.

THE DRINK OVERALL—8.67

I’m giving this full marks across the board for kick, but I will say that the taste leaves something to be desired.  I’m not a fruit punch guy, and taking this down got hard towards the end.  I will say that it’ll do the job about as well as any drink I’ve had, and is well worth it if you’re willing to drink the whole can for it.

24 OZ. CAN

KICK (INTENSITY)—10+

Even if it doesn’t quite reach the (insanely) lofty heights of the 24 oz. can of Rockstar Zero Carb, the 24 oz. Punched—Tropical Fruit Punch is still strong enough to count as a very serious energy drink, and warrant an admonition of caution if one is sensitive to caffeine.  Go with the smaller can if you’re one of those people.  Chances are it’s more than enough.

KICK (DURATION)—10+

I got about 8 hours of solid energy out of this particular product.  Don’t remember a crash, so there either wasn’t one or not enough of one to make an impression.

THE DRINK OVERALL—9.33

Like cheap fruit punch?  Like really extreme amounts of energy?  Try the 24 oz. Rockstar Punched—Tropical Fruit Punch.

    1. Appreciate it. And no, I haven't had the chance to review the Cocaine energy drink--haven't been able to find it anywhere. Promise that the second I do I will post a review, though.

  4. You're right there's a very strong fruit punch flavor, I'm actually the kind of person who likes that taste though. I'm fairly new to energy drinks, so these super high energy drinks still freak me out a bit. Good review, are you going to do the Mtn dew kickstart fruitpunch flavor?

    1. It's just as well that the really hardcore ones freak you out; I try to stay away from them myself (though I will buy a 24 oz. Zero Carb if I'm driving from Idaho to Washington and need to be awake all day). I have tried the Kickstart Fruit Punch flavor; I'll be posting the review shortly. Thanks for reading!

  5. Thanks for the Review! This may well be my favorite Energy Drink on the market, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who appreciates the full kick provided by the 24oz can. I usually have one of these on busy days at work (I assemble PCs, lack of concentration is NOT a good thing in my line of work), especially when I had a short night. They really do last all day!

  6. Maybe I've just become a lightweight from keeping my caffiene source to Mountain Dew for a month (previously drank NOS every morning, but needed a break), but this drink messed me up. I started up the work day (approx. 7:45 a.m.) with Punched and after a hour I had finished the can (I'm never really thirsty in the morning, and I like to savor my energy drinks). It left me feeling extremely spaced out and somewhat nauseous. By lunch the nausea wore off, but I was still feeling out of it until about 3:00 P.M. While I like Hawaiian Punch, Rockstar Punched's taste just didn't do it for me. If you're someone who wants/needs to be wired and messed up, this is the drink for you, but if you just want to be able to focus a little better in the morning, I'd stay away from this one.

  7. I absolutely love the taste, a stong fruity flavor. This is my favorite energy drink currently.
