NOTE: As with all the other "new" flavors, what you have here is just a repackaged, renamed version of the same ol’ Amp Energy—Lightning.  Great for lovers of that drink, bad for people who were hoping for something new.  Read on.

In the case of Amp Energy—Active, the new look served as a nice upgrade.  The previous can was about as bland as they came, but with the newer, cleaner look, the shade of yellow selected and the black work together to make the can look pretty sharp.

TASTE—6

Didn’t like how it tasted the first time around, and slammed that in my first review, essentially stating that it tasted like…nothing.  Well, this time I had it cold—which is apparently a big deal for the Crystal Light lemonade flavor.  It was still rather unremarkable, but at least I didn’t feel like I’d been cheated.

KICK (INTENSITY)—6

Here, however, I did feel kind of cheated—the kick’s pretty average, maybe even a bit below average.  Enough to do the job, but not enough to make much of an impression at all.

KICK (DURATION)—7

Average—you can expect 3 hours or so of efficacy before arriving at the finish line.

THE DRINK OVERALL—6.33

Well, notwithstanding the new look, Amp Energy—Active is still pretty lackluster in the performance department.  If, however, you liked Amp Energy—Lightning, you’ll still love it in the new packaging.
