Review for Mio Energy--Green Thunder

CAFFEINE CONTENT

60 mg/serving (1/2 tsp.)

EASE IN ACQUISITION—10

Can be found virtually everywhere.

APPEARANCE/PRESENTATION—9

The bottle looks cool to be sure, but the main appeal is the versatility of that sleek, compact design—there’s just something to be said about being able to take as much energy as you’d like with you wherever you go without having to heft a 12-pack of Rockstar Zero Carb on your shoulders.

TASTE—8

If you’re trying this for the first time, please note: you need to make sure that you’re not making this too dilute; if you do it’ll wind up tasting like a bland, semi-citrusy Red Bull clone.  If, however, you add the appropriate amount, this loses the RBC quality and in its stead you get a nice mixed citrus flavor.  It’s not nearly as good as the brand’s Black Cherry product, but if you’re into citrus and drinking shockingly green beverages, this is right up your alley.

KICK (INTENSITY)—10

Again, this 10/10 represents an overall rating—actual intensity varies depending how much you add to your solvent of choice (I’d recommend water over anything else…mostly because methanol is poisonous).

Anyway, if you’ve read my last Mio review, you know what to expect here.  For those that have not, however, here are some noteworthy Mio doses for you:

Really, this could be as subdued or mind-blowingly intense as you’d like—just be smart about how much caffeine you take in, and you should be fine.  My 10/10 is just kind of an “overall” rating in this case.  Here are some noteworthy doses:

From two servings (a full teaspoon) you can get yourself 120 mg caffeine, which is enough if you’re looking for a moderate boost.  7/10.

About two and a half servings (a teaspoon and a half) will yield 160 mg caffeine, and bests Monster, Red Bull, and a number of other major brands in terms of intensity and quality—it’s nice to be so awake without feeling jittery.  8/10.
Four servings (two teaspoons) deliver 240 mg of caffeine, and at this point the boost starts to get significant.  You still won’t experience any jitters, but will nonetheless feel very awake and ready for…whatever it is you need to be awake and ready for.  9/10.

Beyond that, successive servings get you into the 10, 10+ range; a full teaspoon will deliver 360 mg of caffeine and will certainly be more than enough to blow your mind (definite 10+).  Just be careful not to overdose yourself, and from there have a blast!

KICK (DURATION)—10

Not hard to know what to expect—everything as far as duration is concerned is pretty normal relative to the intensity.  Two servings will give you about three hours of energy, two and a half will yield three and a half hours, and four servings will give your four hours.  Beyond that, you get the potential to buzz all day if you feel thus inclined.

THE PRODUCT OVERALL—9.33

Not as good as Black Cherry, but still a fantastic product for you citrus lovers out there.  Also, there’s no sugar to deal with—so buzz without guilt.

  1. Okay I have to try the black cherry- which I didn't see at the store so I got the green thunder instead. When I first tried it- I really wasn't a fan..but since I bought it I figured I'd drink it. Now I cant get enough. I've had probably 3 or 4 16 oz. cups of it and love that I'm so "alert" all day. Will try black cherry next. Much easier on the wallet and no sugar or calories..awesome.

    1. 1) 'Sarahbellum' is one insanely AWESOME profile name, and 2) let me know what you think of Mio's black cherry offering. Always like to hear what other people have to say about the products I review.

  2. This taste like an non carbonated Monster Energy to me. It does taste good though.
